A Letter from Juliette

Hello there, dear friends and family!

We are so grateful for all the well wishes you have sent our way as we embark on this new adventure, and we are so pleased that you want to follow along through this blog!

It’s hard to believe we leave tomorrow for our 4-month “backpacking” trip across Europe. (I say “backpacking” only because we are each carrying a single backpack. The similarities to the free-roaming, hostel-staying, minimal-showering idea of backpacking across Europe stop there!) If you think we’re nuts for living out of a backpack for 4 months, you’re probably correct on some level. But, I have to admit, it’s a pretty liberating feeling to know that we will be carrying no more than just what we need.

You can definitely say that’s a theme for this blog and for our lives in general. While we went back and forth on whether we should take such an extensive trip, we came up with 3 questions to help us make the decision:

  1. Do we want this to be a part of our story?
  2. Will we regret not doing it?
  3. Will it make us uncomfortable and force us to grow?

We both answered a resounding YES to all of those questions, so it ended up being a pretty easy decision in the end.

In this season of our lives, we have very little to tie us down. We are also both trying to figure out who we are as individuals and who we are together. That’s why we’re prioritizing travel: it’s our favorite way to learn about ourselves, about each other, and how we fit into this crazy beautiful world. We’re not sure how long this season will last, but we’re committed to following those prevailing winds throughout this one and into the next…and into every season that follows.

Hugs,
Jules
